Putin and Snowden Discuss Mutual Spying In Media:  Reminds Me Of The TV Cartoon “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends!”
The trials and tribulations of  Edward Snowden—the overpaid  Booz Allen,  NSA Subcontractor; and President Vladimir Putin, former KGB agent, are approaching a surrealistic level of media exposure that approaches the buffoonery of a TV cartoon series.
In a recent article in the NYTimes International, Friday, 18, 2014, entitled, “In Scripted Surprise, Putin Answers Snowden On Spying” by David M. Herszenhorn (posted earlier) an exchange of dialogue is quoted as follows:

Snowden [DISINGENUOUSLY]:
“So,  I’d like to ask you, does Russia INTERCEPT,  STORE, or ANALYZE in ANY WAY THE COMMUNICATIONS OF MILLIONS OF [innocent] INDIVIDUALS? “
Putin answers with bravado:
“Mr. Snowden,  YOU ARE A FORMER [spy] AGENT],  I used to WORK IN INTELLIGENCE SERVICE.  LET’S SPEAK IN PROFESSIONAL LANGUAGE.” [my emphasis]
Here is the real kicker for me:
“But what IS MOST IMPORTANT,”  Putin concluded, “IS THAT THE SPECIAL SERVICES,  THANK GOD,  ARE UNDER  A STRICT CONTROL OF THE GOVERNMENT and the SOCIETY, and their activities ARE REGULATED BY LAW.”
If any of you have a chance,  please take a look at the video posted on this blog.   Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends is a TV cartoon created by Jay Ward and Alexander Anderson in 1959-64,  it reflected American society and it’s Cold War Soviet nemesis,  featuring Boris Badenov [Russian Spy] and his accomplice,  Natasha Fatale.
No two characters can better define the lack of professional integrity and pride than Boris as Putin and Natasha as Snowden.  From my vantage point, Snowden has entered the pantheon of neither a ‘spy’ nor a ‘whistleblower;’ but rather he has attained through sheer unadulterated self-aggrandizement, malignant narcissism, and cowardice the highest accolade of running alongside Woody Woodpecker and Roger Rabitt.  He has forfeited any legitimacy to the real world by orchestrating his incessant international media appearances.
That Snowden is “Fatale” is so obvious.  However, that Putin allowed himself the chance to enter the “Rocky and Bullwinkle Cartoon Series” is surprising if not absurdly inane.  For much less stupidity than Putin has shown with Snowden,  Andropov (Putin’s former KGB boss) would have put in him in Siberia.  But seriously who are the real cartoon characters here???  Booz Allen, Congress, NSA, POTUS….some things never change.  Let’s stop funding this cartoon series!
Some reports say that we spend over $75Billion on Intelligence and another $70Billion on Homeland Security.  Think about that when you pay your taxes! We celebrate the ignoble Pulitzer Prize of Journalism given to the Washington Post and The Guardian.   Hope you are getting the picture,  stop believing what is fed to you.  Now understand that Snowden is Natasha Fatale and Putin is Boris Badenov.   Truth,  honesty and modesty can never be commoditized like lying, dishonor and farce.

That’s all folks!

  1. You don't think the Pulitzer was properly awarded? Don't you know these major awards are jokes? Like Obama really deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for doing absolutely nothing?

The Boston Globe won a Pulitzer for its coverage ("propaganda" is another word) of the Boston Marathon. If there were any justice, all of these reporters would be out of a job for ignoring the truth that was right in their faces. But no, they win awards for being the very best at their profession!

  4. Dr.P you've missed a great opportunity to expand on the creativity and wit embodied in "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, et. al."

I remember in 1963 when I was three and four years old, about the time John Kennedy was killed, watching Boris and Natasha, Dudley Doright, Snidely Whiplash, and the scholarly guy whose name I can't remember.....

....these characters were the product of genius, and had something of interest for people of every age, unlike todays garbage and trash.

Around about that time or a little later on Saturday nights came "Get Smart," which was a comic satire about the CIA. My father, who was an agent who voted for the ticket of George Wallace/Curtiss LeMay later in '68, used to watch Agent 99 and Maxwell Smart and all the others and laugh while he smoked his "Pall Mall" cigarettes.

Yes the early '60s were the Mad Men dayz of television with "The Rifleman" and "Gilligan's Island" and many others. And what a treat it was when my Dad and Mom would put me in the back seat of the car, grab some hot hamburgers and park inside the open air outdoor drive-in theater where we could see "Casino Royale" or "The Fantastic Voyage" or even "How to Kill Your Wife" with Jack Lemon.....

Those were the dayz of wholesome witty entertainment free of the vulgarity, stupidity and patriotic jingoism of today's fascist America.

Then in the late 1960s things got even better for me as my ninth birthday saw me enthralled with "2001 A Space Odyssey" or "M"-rated material like "Midnight Cowboy" or simply astonishing productions like "A Man for All Seasons" or Zefferelli's "Romeo and Juliet," or even "The Planet of the Apes"........

How lucky I was to be born when I was and not before or after.

    1. Hamburgers in those dayz were HOT, and had to be phone-in ordered twenty minutes ahead so they could be prepared to order and were right off the grill when you picked them up, along with the buns which were also put on the grill, and the cheese was melted, and the onions and pickles were always good.....

Can't get that in a fast food drive through operation like today.

I think the Jack Lemon movie was "How to Murder Your Wife, and it also had Terry Thomas.

And what was that movie where three people got into this ball thing that was painted with anti-gravity paint and it shattered through a greenhouse ceiling and shot all the way to the moon, and then the occupants got out and found an underground civilization of really creepy Moon people who looked like insects and their babies incubated in these tube things with bubbly water going up all the time.......

Somehow when that civilization imploded that leading man and his girlfriend managed to get into the cube thing and it shot back up to earth but the old scientist guy I think stayed back to try to live among the Moon people......

      That was so cool.

    2. The neat thing about the drive-in was those big speaker things that you put in your window, and the sound they provided and they had a little volume control you could adjust.

And if you wanted you could get out of the car and there would be all other kinds of kids and people walking back to the building in the back where all the consessions were and they were always busy back there and had awesome smells of Coke and Dr.Pepper and buttered popcorn and other snacks which smelled tremendous and people would be given these cardboard holders to put their drinks in so they could walk back to their cars. And there were these really big fountain drink clear plastic tubs which circulated these yellow or red drinks like punch or something, but I never saw anybody get one of those drinks...just the pop drinks with crushed ice and they were put in those cardboard things....

    3. On the day of Kennedy's funeral it was rainning in San Antonio where I was and I remember that funeral well as he was the only President I ever knew though my parents told me Eisenhower was President when I was born but I didn't remember him at all.

      Delete
    4. Another thing I remember was that my parents provided me with like a pet food bowl to pee in so they wouldn't have to walk me back to the building if I needed to pee, and therefore miss part of the movie. I remember peeing in that pet food bowl.

That was just like my parents, and in 1968 my father wanted to win the Vietnam war so he voted for Wallace, but I think my Mom voted for Humphrey as her family were all bit Democrats then and had supported FDR and then Johnson. When John Connolly was Governor he appointed some of her family members to offices in the state.....

We all watched "The Smothers Brothers" and it was our favorite show. I remember the Beatles "Hey Jude" and Mason Williams "Classical Gas" and many others...

Glenn Campbell had a summer replacement show and that was cool....Flip Wilson would come on and I liked watching him and "Geraldine."

And weekends with Ed Sullivan was always important with Tom Jones and acts such as that.

My favorite musician was Herb Alpert, and I saw him in concert in San Antonio in 1968 at his zenith.

Shortly after that he had a nervous breakdown and was not able to play trumpet any longer so he started A&M records and that led to The Carpenters and others who were superbly produced.

And let's not forget Sergio Mendez and Brazil '66, The Seekers [Georgy Girl] and Peter Paul and Mary [Puff the Magic Dragon].

My father's favorite was "When you go to San Francisco" by Randy Sparks because after Korea my father was stationed at the Presidio across from San Francisco and he liked the Bay area tremendously in the 1950s......

My father didn't like not winning in Korea or Vietnam but he was no right-wing idiot. He was very critical of CIA and the military and thought atomic bombs were immoral and that the US was ruthless and immoral in the manner in which it conducted itself overseas. "The end justifies the means," he would say about CIA, and "The only thing they care about is winning. It doesn't matter how to them or who pays the cost....."

In the 1980s he told me I shouldn't work for CIA at all.
By 1968 he was an anti-government rebel but still voted for Wallace anyway. People are incomprehensible.

    5. Everyone used to call in their orders for burgers, and the guy I was named after in San Antonio had five hamburger places there but someone arranged for the Yellow pages to forget to run his number one year and the five burger places went out of business. He was using them to launder money anyway and fenced diamonds, cars and other things as well as moving drugs up from Mexico [which my father opposed as he thought all drugs were evil and people who sole them were parasites]. Anyway on January 1975 he turned up dead in the back seat of his car, the fence friend of mine not my Dad...... And of course it was never solved and no murders ever were in San Antonio in those days and murder rates in Dallas were over 300 per year, and Houston was the same and San Antonio wasn't much different......

    6. Murder was common in Texas until the 1980s, and everyone was armed and if you had a serious problem with someone you either killed him or had someone else do it....

That was the environment that Johnson grew up in and he killed several people in Texas for business reasons meaning they were witnesses to his crimes......

Killing was just not that uncommon here until recently, and only drunk Mexicans in Saturday night knife fights in bars ever went to jail for it......

For that matter that's how Woody Harrelson's father Charles made his living, and the world he grew up in.
Charles Harrelson always wore suits and was well dressed as my father and all the others were....

I used to have to polish his shoes as well. Everybody had shoe polish and brushes and so forth in those days.

Then in 1972 next to the shoe shine box appeared these white vests with a little red heart over the left side and it said, "Second Chance, " and this box of bullet proof vests were the first produced with kevlar and was given to my father by his buddy from Houston Edwin Wilson, who was having people going back and forth between Texas to Libya to work for Kaddaffi. Then of course Carter came into office and CIA threw Wilson and Turpil under the bus.

Wilson and Turpil was given those assignments because they were the best officers CIA had.....the best by far.

And then three years ago the chief CIA agent in the southwest, Rolland Carnaby, was shot dead on the side of the road by Houston police although Carnaby was unarmed...and you can see his killing on Youtube and see it was a clear assassination....

Theres a lot of shit goes on down here....

    7. In the 1950s with mid-century modern houses everybody painted their front doors orange, like Jimmy Stuart's apartment in San Francisco in "VERTIGO..."

So when my father built our house in San Antonio in 1963 he painted the front door orange, and everybody thought that was really strange.....

      Delete
    8. What I should've said was it was common only in California for the modern houses to have orange front doors.....that's why my father painted the front door of our new house in Texas orange but everyone who saw it commented it was really strange for them...

Who is her base? Where does she stand on anything? What's her program? Ideology? I don't get it....

What drives her? Any purpose to her career? Can anyone stand her monotone angry defensive sounding voice? The worst speaker ever....

      I don't get it....

Why does anyone want such a loser? Anyone would be better. That's how Obama came along with no background or history [or HIS-TREE as he says] and stole it from her.

Now she's old and fat and someone else will come along and take it from her also.

Most people when given the chance have no restraint over their egos and become megalomaniacs if given the opportunity.

Look at idiots like Paul Allen and Mark Cuban and other morons billionaires for whom everything goes to their heads and all they can think about is having the biggest yatch in the world while their bodies become fatter and fatter and they get uglier and uglier.....

They festoon themselves with jewels and hire young athletic girls and boys as their sex partners because they have degenerated into slobs of flab and puss....

Most people are like that and it takes someone with real self respect and honor to maintain a healthy mind when they have wealth and such....

    1. I never watched Father Knows best or My Three Sons or Petticoat Junction or Hogans Heros or The Munsters because frankly I thought those shows were boring and too square and silly family shows.......

My family wasn't a square or respectable family and we didn't go to church or do the other things respectable people were supposed to do. So those family shows were dull as whale shit to me, like "Mr. ED" the talking horse or Mayberry or that Marine guy "Golly Shazamm" and stuff was just to dull and square for myself and my oddball family of criminals and Navy Intelligence operators......

My father's father was the town drunk and his mother worked as a hotel maid and took in other people's laundry so I guess though we were just not the same as others although we had a really nice new house with an orange door and always had the best clothes and cars the way other criminals do.......

But no I didn't like silly family shows that my Mom's family watched and all her brothers were judges and lawyers and went to church and never let their kids pee in a pet bowl at the drive in LOL....

I can't imagine my Mom's church going family of judges and other creeps letting their kids pee in the back seat in a pet food bowel.....

Another movie I liked was "Where Eagles Dare" with Richard Burton...and then came along "The Wild Bunch" and before that was "The Good the Bad and the Ugly...."

      Those were awesome.

My Mom's family were a bunch of hypocrits going to church all the time and starting businesses with easy bank loans because the bank President was in their sunday school class and approved all their loans with no collateral.....go figure.

    3. The Adams Family was okay but not The Munsters....

Another good one was "The Outer Limits" and of course reruns of "The Alfred Hitchcock Show" and "The Twilight Zone" and other non-family shows I liked to watch...."Hawaii Five-O" with Wo Fat the Red Chinese villain and "Book Um Danno!".......

I remember "The Man from Uncle" and "The FBI with Efraim Zimbalist, Jr....." produced by "Quinn Martin" and all the cars in his shows were new Fords because Ford Motors was his sponsor................

My Mom's family liked to watch Dave Garaway on the Today's show and their favorite actor was Don Amiche for some reason although they didn't know that in real life Don Amiche grew up in a brothel LOL........

Those were the dayz when men were men and women were women and there was no "GAy rights" and other perverted shit like today....

And we had good negros then like Johnny Mathis and Nat King Cole, one of my favorites....not like the phony pussy ass thugs of today with "JayZ" and "Kanye West" and other pussy thugs who would in reality get their asses kicked across the room by a real man like Nat King Cole......
